Tri and Tri again

Well, it has been some time since I’ve posted anything.  Part of that was due to time constraints and other by design.

After a few weeks of recovering both physically and mentally from IMTX and discussions with my wife and Coach K, I decided to “tri” again pretty quickly.  The email from Karen came about 2 weeks after IMTX and basically what I remember from it is how she started it by saying, “you should be pretty pissed by now.”  She was exactly right.  I put in the time but made some very dumb mistakes which I mentioned previously.  She encouraged me to continue the journey but it was the discussion with my wife that truly made my mind up.  She supported me immensely in whatever decision I made but she too did not want this journey to end and wanted me to become an Ironman.  I knew this was a goal I wanted to accomplish and didn’t want to wait another year for IMTX to roll around.

That was it…I would attempt again this year.  Me attempting an Ironman was a huge challenge but doing 2 in one year?  This made me nervous but my mind was made up.  I was set and after much deliberation between IMFL or IMAZ, my decision was made for me when the only slots available were for IMFL through Endurance Sports Travel.  Signing up was the easy part.  Getting motivated for all the training took some time.  HA!

Initially, I started this Ironman journey to get in better shape for my family and me.  I wanted to show my boys that “Anything is Possible” if you put your mind to it and work hard enough.  After not finishing Texas, it then became one of life’s lessons for me to teach my boys’.  I had to show them that no matter what, we do not quit just because you fail.  Get up and do it until you succeed.  Fortunately for everyone, I was able to do just that when I crossed the finish line about 10:52 PM at Ironman Florida.

I can now update my profile by deleting wannabe Ironman and replace with I AM an IRONMAN!
